Paraben releases new DP2C-Deployable Paraben Powered Collector software. DP2C is a data triage and bitstream imaging tool for the collection of data from computers and hard drives. This update to the DP2C software is exciting because it allows users to install the software on their own personal USB drive.
DP2C is the perfect quick solution for examiners to triage many machines in a short amount of time to detect the most important data, especially when in the field. Users can boot directly into DP2C without logging into Windows to acquire data, which ensures a forensically sound acquisition. DP2C gives users the ability to search for data by file types, to search and acquire deleted data, and to acquire the data to a secure encrypted forensic container. Data types that can be acquired include e-mail and chat databases, browser data, My Documents, Downloads folder, pictures, cell phone backups, cloud storage, Win10 activity timeline, authentication data, and more.
The new DP2C is a great imaging tool that lets you quickly create images to process, examine, and perform analysis with a forensic tool such as E3:U, E3:P2C, or another software of your choice.
-Stated Kevin Fisher, Senior Tech Support Engineer
The forensic disc image that is created using DP2C is a PFR image. This image file is a flat-file or DD that has been branded PFR. All forensic tools that support a DD image should be able to open and process the created PFR image.
The DP2C interface has both a Quick Scan option and a Custom Scan option where the user can define the scan parameters. The Create Image option allows for the user to begin the process of creating an image of a logical or physical drive.
